The Event

Cardiff 101 Main Street is proud to partner with the City of Encinitas to present the 12th Annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer. This FREE event features over 200 dog-related vendors and rescue groups, pet adoptions, live music, dog contests, kid activities, beer & wine oasis, food trucks and more! “This event is a classic Cardiff celebration. We love our pets in Encinitas! We’re thrilled to have such strong community involvement from Cardiff 101 putting it together every year. The new venue at the Encinitas Community Park should allow even more people to participate.” - City of Encinitas Mayor, Catherine Blakespear says

New this year, the event will be held at the Encinitas Community Park next to the Maggie Houlihan Dog Park and will feature a carefully curated “Maker’s Market Row” where you can find quality handmade goods and connect with local artisans. Adopt a pet from one of the many rescue groups that will be featured in “Rescue Row” presented by Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Visit the City of Encinitas Pet Health Expo for on-site pet services, including microchipping, pet licensing, vaccinations and health screenings performed by the County of San Diego Department of Animal. We’re excited to expand our dog contest categories at this year’s event. Does your dog like to strut its stuff? Enter one of 6 categories: Cutest Puppy, Best Looking Big Dog, Best Looking Small Dog, Best Trick, Best Dressed and Dog/Owner Look-A-Like. Compete to take home a ribbon for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place and goodie bag of cool prizes. Registration is the day of the event from 11: 45am-12: 15pm $5 cash per entry, $6 for credit/debit. Is your dog up for a challenge?  Stop by the Kamp Kanine agility course for a fun and challenging course. Make sure to enter the opportunity drawing to win cool gear from Nixon, Etnies, GoPro, GoldCoast Skateboards, Hansen’s Surf Shop, and more!

Thanks to The Lost Abbey and Skater Girl Wines By Coomber Family Wines there will be refreshing blends and brews to try at the Beer & Wine Oasis. You won’t want to miss tasting The Lost Abbey’s new Cardiff 101 Hoppy Wheat beer! Skater Girl Wines is generously donating 10% of all event proceeds to benefit Rancho Coastal Humane Society so come thirsty and ready to sip for a good cause. Enjoy a wide variety of music throughout the event at the Main Stage and in the Beer & Wine Oasis with performances by The Shift, emerging local artist Lizzie Waters, students from California Music Studios, The Lindy Crandall Band and more!

"While we celebrate the Cardiff Dog Days of Summer one day each year, every day is a great day to be a dog in Cardiff. Dogs are part of the family. We take them with us everywhere. They go with us in the car, at the park, or for a hike by the beach. In Cardiff, every day is a dog day." - Jim Silveira, President, Rancho Coastal Humane Society.

This is a dog friendly event and we welcome our four legged friends but be aware that all dogs must be on leash (6 foot) at all times at the park (except within the Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park area).  We also ask you to be respectful of the park and clean up after pets. Thank you for being considerate pet owners!
